Vulkan Baru

Well, we did not hike the volcano. But we drove the same way up and down again. We were there at sunrise. That the weather conditions are not always easy, it quickly becomes clear - say you can observe from below. But the scenery is magnificent and we enjoyed this exciting trip.

Quetzal Trail

This hiking trail is unfortunately closed at the moment.

Pipeline Trail

At the entrance is the parking lot and it begins a leisurely hike. Not strongly ascending. Several times the stream is crossed, sometimes somewhat adventurous. Again and again the water supply (pipeline) becomes visible - sometimes quite mystical when water escapes as mist. In about the halfway point, an old and mighty tree is the scene. Again and again observations of the Quezal are possible. Nature is....when you see him several times but also not at all. And at the end there is the reward with a beautiful waterfall.

3 Waterfall Trail / The lost Waterfalls

Along the road you can park well. After the rusty bridge the climb begins. After about a comfortable half hour you are on a meadow with a beautiful view. Especially in the early morning hours it is still nice and quiet here. After the ticket office the somewhat loamy path begins. Partly spectacular how you can make your way here. But the waterfalls are worth it. 3 in number.

La Piedra de Lino

In the region of "Los Naranjos" you can park along the road. The start is marked with two white boards. The path is always well visible. After about 5-10 min. you come to the nursery where you have to pay the entrance fee and you get various information. With the dog as a companion we start. At the beginning it is a very easy path which knows only one direction, upwards. In the upper part of this little hike there are a lot of epiphytes. Wonderful this flora. In addition, the view is really spectacular. With a little luck you are alone and can enjoy the view to the sea in full peace.

El Pianista

Along the road you can park well in front of the restaurant. The path also starts right at the restaurant of the same name. First you pass through a small settlement - and you are in the middle of life. You are always accompanied by a rushing brook. The first 15 to 20 minutes you cross cow pastures. Again and again orchids smile at you. At the fork into the jungle, a completely different world opens up to you. Jungle feeling until the end. It is a wonderful hike, which is very varied. Due to the fact that one runs partly in the baking bed or over mud, this hike is certainly recommended in the dry season. Then it is almost a must. At the memorial, take another look into the distance and turn back. Arrived at the bottom, you can eat well in the shade of the trees in the restaurant or just drink something.

Cerro Artilleria

The start is not so easy to find, because there is no sign. After that, you can't really miss the path, which leads past cow pastures. Already on the way up you have great viewpoints. The path certainly leads half in the forest, which is very convenient in warm weather. But it is not the tropical rainforest. At the top, you are only on a "saddle". A pasture with cows and horses. To the rock formations it is not far and you have a spectacular 360 degree view. One of the most beautiful views in the region, if not the most beautiful. We were all alone and so you could only hear the wind rushing by....

Volcancito to Bajo Boquete

Who wants to see where the Casita is located and how much nature around it lines the landscape. This is a circular walk or can also be done partially with the car service. You can choose how much you want to walk. A gravel path leads most of the way to the destination. There are also several beautiful viewpoints where you can photograph Bajo Boquete. Passing vegetable and coffee plantations, you can gain an insight into the life of the Panamenos.

Cerro Palo Alto

This hike is relatively easy to walk. The variety of plants is really impressive. First you walk on a gravel path, then the path becomes narrower and narrower. Every now and then the willow greets and brings light.

Cascada el Tatica

If you are looking for a hike that leads you to your destination as quickly as possible, this is the place for you. You do not have to do without much. The start is in the middle of managed area. Blackberry bushes accompany next to animal pastures. Almost at the push of a button you are in the cloud forest. After about 20 minutes you are at the waterfall. But this one is actually beautiful.

Sendero Culebro

We didn't see any snakes, but we had a great jungle experience. First, the path leads relatively unspectacular along the river. After a local village comes the actual (narrow) path into the Amistad National Park. The vegetation is very varied and astonishing. Either you are accompanied by the chirping of birds or by the murmur of the stream. Again and again you cross streams. The emerging fog offers mysterious glimpses of the magnificent greenery. Despite the fact that you sometimes have to walk in the stream bed, the path is relatively pleasant to walk.

Mirador Piedra del Musgo

The start leads through the coffee plantation with constantly magnificent views. The path is not easy to find and in places very slippery as you walk in the meadow. After the section in the steep climb, you can enjoy the fresh air in the rustic forest. At the rock formations you have a magnificent view of Boquete, volcano Baru and in the distance.

Fairytale forest

The hike begins openly and with far-reaching views. Along cow pastures mixed with cooling forest sections. You can get cold feet here, as the trail starts over a river bed. Various bird calls can be heard in the shade of many trees. With a bit of luck, you might see howler monkeys. The moss on the trunks, with additional mist, promise a mystical atmosphere here. A giant guards the valley.

Cerro India vieja

The hike begins with open views and the company of cows. It is wonderful to enjoy this view and a tree-lined path. The path is very easy to walk and does not start with a steep ascent. The difference in altitude then begins over the bridge. A great viewpoint awaits you.
